yes you are right... I noticed a link to my blog from yours, and so I come to your blog to see who has linked to my blog ...
see who you are, what you do.
And from that, I judge the success of my own blog. I judge my blog by how it is perceived by other bloggers.
kind of egocentric, I suppose .... but that's core human psychology. I think that is why things like blogs and myspace work so well.

Thanks for your comment, thanks for visiting my site, after I visited yours... I think that all website authors are (too?) frequently looking at the content of the "REFERER" header sent by their visitors ;-)
The idea behind the Wavumi service is to get an explicit reference of your reader and not a "stolen" HTTP header anymore. Your visitor will consciously pass to you the URL of his website when visiting your website. Of course, it will work only if you are also part of the Wavumi Community, meaning that you will also consciously give the URL of your website each time you visit other websites.
You can register at Wavumi, and then if you go back to this Wavumi's Blog you should (*) see your name within the "Recent Readers" list of the Wavumi widget ;-)
(*) This is still a beta version.
Sure. In the niche for which I write, sailing, we have built up a strong community of sailing bloggers who regularly comment on each others' blogs.

which should up people's hits ...
not a bad idea ... takes the 'hastle' out of leaving comments and pingbacks and trackbacks and all that business...
the question I have to ask myself is... can I be bothered creating yet an other account on an other web service/app thingy ...

It is exactly what MyBlogLog is doing ;-) Indeed, one way to present Wavumi is to say that it is as a MyBlogLog clone.
I think cloning MyBlogLog is a bad idea. I did get a referral from this blog to mine though.
I think you'll just divide the network. I think there are other clones too. I hope all the networks can just have OpenID integrated.
That would be a huge advantage if you did that. Just my 2cents.

If my understanding is right, you do not like my idea to clone MyBlogLog (or BlogClatalog) and then divide a network that can be global, unless I do integrate OpenID... I will then start investigating OpenID immediately!
